Pendle Learning Network was established in January 2006 to meet the learning needs of Pendle people. It has been set up by the Education Group of the Pendle Partnership, with
funding from the Learning & Skills Council and is coordinated by Pendle Community Network.

The aim of the network is to identify the learning needs of local people and community groups and bring together local learning providers to meet these needs. Programmes will be delivered, mainly free of charge, in locations and at times convenient to most people.

The network will coordinate and publicise existing and proposed learning programmes and provide an easily accessible link to book courses. Pendle Learning Network offers a real chance for Pendle people to improve their skills and knowledge and to enhance their wellbeing and quality of life.

The Winter/Spring programme runs from the beginning of February to the end of March 2006 and includes programmes provided by various network partners. It is grouped into a number of themes:

• Finance
• Funding
• Marketing & Publicity
• Organisation & Management
• Personal Development
• Policies and Procedures
• Skills for Life

A further programme of courses for the summer will be published in April.

The aim of the network is to offer attractive courses, which are readily accessible to the people of Pendle and are relevant to their individual and group learning needs.

The courses delivered through the network are mostly free or charge. Many of these courses are already available. We aim to improve the ease of access for local people, particularly those from disadvantaged communities. We seek to improve awareness of what is available and explain how learning can improve people’s wellbeing.

Some programmes can lead to better job prospects and progress to qualifications, some can improve health and social activities and some can be just plain fun! One thing for certain is, that learning can improve everyone’s quality of life.

It really is easy to enrol on one of the programmes on the site. Simply choose the course you are interested in from the course list, view its details, then complete the form for that course with your details.

Enrolment forms can also be completed at libraries and community and sports centres.
If you need help in enrolling for any programme please ring on 01282 619913 or email
info@pendlelearningnetwork.org.uk

Enrolment can also be made with the individual learning provider.

We have tried to locate courses where they are most required by Pendle people, in buildings which are friendly and easily accessible. Each course on the website indicates the location, date and time it will take place.

As more programmes become available through the network, the scope and location will expand. Where specific programmes are required they can be located appropriately.

Courses will be held to meet the specific needs of individuals and groups. These may include cultural or technical requirements and the network will endeavour to meet all these needs. Please contact us and we will make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate your needs.
